Robotics is designed to introduce students to real-world engineering challenges by building LEGO-based robots to complete tasks on a thematic playing surface. Through this club, students will design, build and program robots. Students learn critical thinking, team-building and presentation skills. The Robotics Competition Club will culminate in the team's participation at the First Lego League (FLL) regional qualifier tournament. In addition to designing and building a small robot for the competition, the team will prepare an oral presentation about a real world problem and solution they would like to solve. The kids will also be judged on FLL core values such as sportsmanship and teamwork. The team may meet a few times outside of the normal club meetings. The instructor, John, is an electrical and software engineer, who has been leading after-school youth activities for 8 years. He has taught youth robotics classes and camps for various organizations. His youth robotics teams have qualified for the Maryland State Robotics Championships for the last 5 years, winning first place awards for Robot Design and Robotics Game Competition.

PLEASE NOTE:  WE CAN ADD A SECOND TEAM TO THIS CLUB IF WE GET ENOUGH STUDENTS.  IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, PLEASE SIGN UP FOR THE WAITLIST.  YOU WILL NOT BE CHARGED UNTIL WE CONFIRM THERE ARE ENOUGH STUDENTS FOR TWO TEAMS.
